Our mission is to make compassionate, high-quality mental health care accessible to the Latino and Spanish-speaking community without language as a barrier. We're committed to helping every person we serve renew their mind and reclaim their life, through care that is both clinically sound and culturally attuned.
Our approach combines evidence-based clinical practice with an educational, practical lens helping clients not just feel better, but understand why. We meet each person where they are, honoring their language, culture, and story as part of the healing process, not separate from it.
My story didn't begin in a therapy office.
It began with a dream, a great deal of faith, and the belief that every challenge can become an opportunity to grow.
I was born in the Dominican Republic, and like many people searching for a better future, I left everything familiar behind. At twenty-two, I moved to Puerto Rico, where I began building a new life. Years later, while raising my two daughters, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life—to return to school at the age of thirty-eight.
At the time, I thought I would study Business Administration. But everything changed when I enrolled in an introductory psychology course. I found myself captivated by the resilience of the human spirit, the power of relationships, and the incredible ability people have to heal when they are met with compassion and understanding. That single class changed the direction of my life. From that moment on, I knew I had found my purpose.
What began as curiosity became a calling. I dedicated myself to earning my degrees in psychology and counseling, not simply to become a therapist, but to become the kind of person who could walk beside others during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Throughout my own journey, I learned that healing isn't about being perfect. It's about finding hope when life feels heavy, discovering strength you didn't know you had, and remembering that you don't have to face life's challenges alone.
These experiences inspired me to create Novamente-Life a place where people of all ages can feel safe, valued, and truly heard. A place where children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families receive compassionate, evidence-based care in an environment that honors their unique story.
As a bilingual therapist, I am especially passionate about serving individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, including those who have experienced the challenges of immigration, cultural transitions, trauma, anxiety, depression, and life's many unexpected changes. I understand how difficult it can be to ask for help, especially when you're trying to be strong for everyone else.
My hope is that when you walk into my office or join me virtually you feel something simple but powerful:
Peace.
A place where you can take a deep breath.
A place where you don't have to carry everything by yourself.
A place where healing begins with being seen, heard, and accepted exactly as you are.
It is a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they rediscover hope, rebuild confidence, and create meaningful, lasting change.
Thank you for being here.
I would be honored to be part of your journey.
With warmth,
Dr. Ingris Maldonado
